The Terry Fox Run has become a long-standing tradition at TAIE, bringing our school community together each year to honour Terry Fox’s legacy and support cancer research. More than just a run, it is an opportunity for our students to come together, give back, and reflect on the courage and determination behind Terry’s journey.
Throughout the past week, our students and staff took part in a variety of activities, including a bake sale, raffle draw, jelly bean jar contest, and the Terry Fox Run. Each activity brought our community together in a different way, while helping raise funds for the Terry Fox Foundation. From fundraising to walking and running together, our students had the opportunity to turn participation into meaningful action.
At TAIE, we believe that some of the most meaningful lessons happen beyond the classroom. Experiences like these encourage students to build confidence, character, and leadership while connecting with and giving back to the community around them. They also give students the chance to develop qualities that go beyond academics — compassion, courage, and a willingness to make a difference.
As our Activities Coordinator, Jared, shared, “When our students walk out of the school, when they graduate, we want them to really carry that courage with them.”
This is what makes traditions like the Terry Fox Run so meaningful at TAIE. We hope that the courage, community spirit, and sense of purpose our students experience today will stay with them long after they leave our school.
Thank you to all of our students, staff, and everyone who took part in this year’s Terry Fox activities. Together, we are carrying courage forward.
