Earlier this week, TAIE welcomed representatives from 33 universities and colleges for a day of meaningful conversations and university exploration. Representatives joined us from leading institutions across Canada, including the University of Toronto, University of Waterloo, University of Ottawa, McMaster University, and Western University, as well as Temple University, St. John’s University, and Niagara University from the United States.

The event gave our students the opportunity to connect directly with university representatives, ask questions, and learn more about programs and admission requirements. For students beginning to think seriously about life after high school, these conversations offered a chance to explore different options and better understand what each university has to offer.

For one of our Grade 12 students interested in Criminology and Psychology, speaking with university representatives helped him explore programs related to his interests and think more carefully about what he might be looking for in his future university experience.

We also heard encouraging feedback from our university guests. Mr. Yamamoto from the University of Toronto noted that our students came prepared with clear ideas about what they want to study and what they hope to pursue in the future. Ms. Herteis from the University of Waterloo highlighted the specific questions students asked, noting that their questions showed they had done their research and knew what they were looking for.

At TAIE, we believe preparing students for university is about more than meeting admission requirements. It is also about helping them explore their interests, ask the right questions, and become more confident in making decisions about their future. For more than 28 years, TAIE has supported international students as they prepare for university and the opportunities beyond it.

We’re proud to see our students taking an active role in exploring their next steps, and we’re grateful to all of our university partners for taking the time to connect with them.

We look forward to creating more opportunities for our students to connect, explore, and plan for what comes next.
